Wellness is about being mindful and making conscious choices towards a healthy and fulfilling life.

 

According to Ayurveda, health is a state of complete physical,  mental and social wellbeing and not merely an absence of disease and infirmity. It focus on how an individual’s physical and mental perception reacts to their body. Therefore, wellness is also a state of being healthy.

 

Wellness is both preventive and holistic, and the concept can be traced back to ancient civilisations, with a variety of intellectual, religious and medical movements developed in parallel with conventional medicine. With their focus on holistic and natural approaches, self-healing and preventive care, these movements have provided a firm foundation for wellness today.

 

The World Health Organization defines wellness as “the optimal state of health of individuals and groups”.

 

The Global Wellness Institute defines wellness as “the active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health”.

 

Wellness is about more than just our physical health, it also encompasses our mental wellbeing, emotional wellbeing, spiritual wellbeing, social, and environmental. It is a dynamic relationship within ourselves, with others and with our environment.
